Shot@Life-What do WE do now??

As many of you know I attended the United Nations Foundation’s Shot@Life Summit last week.  I lobbied with other Champions to request that our members of Congress support Foreign Aid bills.  Currently the US foreign aid funding is less than 1% of the  federal budget and global healthcare is only 15% of that 1%.

Team New Jersey and a friend from South Dakota met with 5 Congressional offices during our day on The Hill.

We proudly displayed our SHOT AT shirts for our meetings because our goal is to help give kids everywhere a SHOT AT all those great milestones children hit early on.  

While at the Summit I met amazing women, men and college students.  All with the same goal; to help get life-saving vaccines to children in places where these vaccines aren’t accessible.

 

Since I returned home my brain has been in overdrive mode.  Repeating the unbelievable yet accurate statistic

“Every 20 seconds a child dies of a vaccine-preventable disease”

Children worldwide dying every 20 seconds of diseases such as diarrhea, pneumonia, measles and polio.

Now what do WE do about this???  I say we because I can’t possibly imagine anyone could read that statistic and still not want to help…
