My Happy Birthday #Blogust Post

Today is my birthday!  It’s a big day and my last year before I start a new age group, 40 and up!  It’s my first time ever turning 39.  I think 39 is a milestone.  I have heard many that claim to have turned 39 over and over again. It’s funny how they never get to 40.  I’m ok with the big 4-0 and have decided I will celebrate and be proud of 40 because that is a huge milestone!  As of today, I have lived 39 happy, healthy and wonderful years.  I have achieved so many milestones in my life from first bike rides to graduating college and eventually becoming a mother! Life has taken me in many directions I didn’t know I would go but at this point I have landed exactly where I want to be and with the people I couldn’t image being here without!!

I thought since today is my birthday AND today is the day that Shot@Life Champions are all participating in #BLOGUST that I would share some of my firsts and big milestones with all of you AND in return I beg you all to please comment on my blog post, like it and share it on social media networks and for EVERY ONE  comment, like AND/OR share, Walgreens will donate one vaccines (up to 60,000)

The Shot@Life movement is NOT a vaccine debate issue; it’s a vaccine ACCESS issue.  Many mothers do not have access to vaccines. There are some mothers in places like Uganda that will walk 3 days each way just to get their child life-saving vaccines. Every twenty seconds a baby is dying of pneumonia, diarrhea, measles and polio. The number of children dying each year in developing countries of vaccine-preventable deaths is equal to half the amount of US children entering kindergarten.  My son is entering Kindergarten this year so this stat wears on me.  It is heartbreaking that so many global mothers will not get to experience this milestone with their children due to lack of access to vaccines.  These children and their mothers need our voices. I’m proud to speak for global mothers and lend a post, comment and share….WILL YOU???

    Happy birthday, Sarah. Loved talking this walk down your memory lane. I just had my daughters at the pediatrician’s office last week for their annual well visits. I know how important those vaccines are, and we wouldn’t miss our shots for anything!

    I second the commenter who said vaccines should be free to all in this country. I can hardly think of anything more important in which we all have a shared, societal, life-or-death interest. Keep up the good work!
