Hey Hey, Friday!!! I am so super psyched for Friday that I could jump up and down and dance….
Maybe I should dance like Drake so I can help do my part to bring on over a foot of snow!
{via Buzzfeed}
Since it’s absolutely freezing in New Jersey….Stop laughing at me Minnesota, my toes are COLD!! I thought today’s Fresh Picks, now known as Frozen Picks till the weather warms up, should include my cold-weather must haves and I am not talking about running to Wegman’s for milk and bread. When we hear a storm is coming we make sure we have snow pants, boots and all the necessities for a super fun snow day. I prefer a snow day with the kids and Finnegan playing in the yard as I watch lovingly through the window but the reality of motherhood doesn’t always allow that to happen. I need to get myself bundled up and pretend to like the cold because we are building memories people!!! I will do it and I will like it because it’s what we moms do!
Now…my Must Haves when an impending Snowmageddon is heading your way!
When it comes to winter coats we 100% have an absolute favorite. The North Face ThermoBall jackets are lightweight and I don’t just mean wearing. You know what it’s like to bring 2 kids to an indoor place in the winter…Mom carries everything!! TNF ThermoBall jackets are super light and not puffy so it’s easy to carry (or fit under the stroller) The best part is that ThermoBall™ powered by PrimaLoft® jacket offers ultralight, highly compressible synthetic insulation to keep you warm in a variety of winter conditions (as per TNF site) As per me….it keeps you WARM yet when it’s not below freezing yet chilly, you don’t over heat.
Here I am last week in the little teeny tiny bit of snow we got over the weekend. I love this photo of myself so much ONLY because it was taken by my son Derek (who is 7) he took my camera in his tiny little hands and stood like a mini-pro photographer. He thought this was the best one. I am also wearing my The North Face ThermoBall jacket.
I took this one of Derek in between eating snow, throwing snow at his sister Hayley and making snow angels in 1/8 of an inch of snow
Hayley is smiling but in the back of her mind she is trying to figure out how to outsmart her brother and make him eat snow
And to show that The North Face ThermoBall jackets are also good for non-freezing temps here is one of my favorite photos of my family in their coats
Next up on our winter weather, OMG it’s going to SNOW list are Kamik Boots!! When searching for snow boots I want something that is easy for the kids to get on and off. OK fine…something I can easily get on and off of them. This year we choose the Kamik Kids Bluster2. I wanted something easy to get over snow pants and these really work well!! Hayley also uses them as rain boots too!!
Derek’s boots are the Kamik Kids Stormin2 and they even have a draw string type pull on them to help keep the snow out!!
Both kids thought it was imperative to make snow angels in the 1/8 an inch of snow
I think a Snowman Kit is an absolute MUST HAVE for a snow day!! We can’t use real carrots for the nose because Finnegan might attack the snowman for his favorite tasty treat (yes he thinks carrots are tasty treats!)
You heard it here first….Shopkins Uno is a Snow Day Essential!!!
EVRIHOLDER 2-PACK SNOW SEAT– RUN TOMORROW get your 20% off for Bed, Bath and Beyond and grab these about snow seats!! Your kids will thank you for it!!
I also find it necessary to have all the fixings to make a big pot of chicken noodle soup, Netflix streaming, my favorite Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day candle burning and the hope of maybe making a dent into the 36 pounds of laundry waiting for me to put it away into the drawers that are already filled!!
In reality THIS will probably be me all day at the window
