It’s been a while of decompressing from the 2012 walk and then a while of reminding myself why it’s so important that we put this walk on. Yes, we need to raise money for research BUT more importantly we MUST raise awareness. We MUST educate pregnant women about the signs and symptoms of preeclampsia. Doctors may think we already know them or that as long as they are monitoring your blood pressure then it’s ok not to inform pregnant women on what to look for. Well preeclampsia doesn’t wait for your next doctors visit to take over. For me it started in the middle of the night postpartum. I had no idea of the signs and symptoms and if it weren’t for my husband insisting I just call the doctor I would have passed what I was feeling off as just exhaustion from a c-section and a new baby. My blood pressure was 210/120 what would have happened to me if I stayed home. Why didn’t my doctor just tell me what to look for so I would have been aware??
