This week I have decided to write my own post for Worthy Wednesdays. I have been back and forth with when and what to write about my upcoming adventure to Washington, DC for the Shot@Life Summit. In case you haven’t heard yet, I am 1 of 100 new Champions selected by the United Nations Shot@Life Program to attend the DC Summit. We will learn the basics about vaccines and how to help advocate for children worldwide to have access to life-saving vaccines.
When I met Jen from World Moms Blog she suggested I apply to become a Shot@Life Champion. Aside from the complete and total shock I felt that Jen thought I would be a good fit, I then realized I needed to apply. Shot@Life would be perfect, a great cause that I could get behind and another way to lead my children by example. Not just telling my kids but showing them that I believe children everywhere deserve a Shot At Life AND I believe it so much that I am going to try to do something about it! Won’t you Take The Pledge to help do what you can to help children worldwide??
Stay Tuned because I am sure I will have so much to share once I get going!!
Speaking of Jen from World Moms Blog…..She shared such a great organization today- CleanBirth.org check out the World Moms Blog Post . CleanBirth.org seeks to prevent the needless deaths of mothers and babies in Laos, where maternal and infant mortality rates are among the highest in the world.
One mother dies every minute, 99% in the developing world and 90% are preventable.
By training village nurses and supplying sterile birthing supplies CleanBirth.org is helping save lives in Laos. One birth kit costs $5. What do you spend $5 on in your day? Is one less Starbucks coffee worth helping save two lives? Please consider helping CleanBirth.org reach their goal of supplying Laos with 1,000 birth kits. You can donate here
From World Moms Blog….From Feb 5th-8th, we’re asking you to help a mother out…just because…it’s important. Here are ways you can help!
* Donate your Facebook status to say: “It’s so simple. $5 Saves 2 Lives: http://Cleanbirth.org Join me and donate your status, too!” (Tag Cleanbirth.org and World Moms Blog on Facebook, if you can!)
* Sample Tweet: “Help Me Save a Mother’s Life in Laos! $5 Saves 2 Lives: http://Cleanbirth.org @CleanBirth @WorldMomsBlog“
And most importantly, please donate…
* Donate $5. Each birth kit gets us closer to our goal of 1,000 birth kits!
You are one of the most go-getting for social good mothers that I know! I’m so glad that you’re behind these two awesome causes!! Thank you so much for this post. Let’s help save more mothers and children!
