Worthy Wednesdays-Support Center for Child Advocates-Philly

I had supported the Support Center for Child Advocates financially in the past. I had even attended the Annual Benefit Reception and Auction last year. But this year a law school friend who works for the non-profit had called on me to help with the Annual Holiday Toy Drive and work with staff and volunteers over several weeks. It was very hands on and I definitely got an inside look on one of the major efforts of the Support Center each year. It was really amazing to see so many different types of people come together to make sure that so many kids had gifts to open for the Holidays. Located in downtown Philadelphia, the Support Center for Child Advocates (Child Advocates) provides legal assistance and social service advocacy for Philadelphia’s abused and neglected children. It is one of the most successful volunteer models serving children in the country, teaming volunteer lawyers with staff social workers to advocate for a permanent nurturing environment for every child. Since its founding in 1977, Child Advocates has trained more than 6,000 attorneys who contribute pro bono services valued at more than $4.6 million annually. In the last year, Child Advocates has served more than 800 children. In 2006, there were 4,947 documented new cases of child abuse and neglect in Philadelphia.

On April 10, 2013 The Support Center has their Annual Benefit Reception and Auction this year at the Crystal Tea Room. The event will consist of a cocktail reception, silent and live auction and an inspiring Awards Ceremony honoring Mark Solomon with the 2013 Judge Lois G. Jennifer Lynn Robinson is the CEO and Founder of “Events with a Purpose.” Her company assists both non-profit and for-profit entities with charitable endeavors such as events, fundraising, sponsorship, giving campaigns, employee volunteerism and strategic partnerships. Jennifer holds certifications in Event Planning,  Non-Profit Management and Conflict Resolution.
