Did you know February is Heart Month? As a woman that had preeclampsia after my second child was born my chances of heart disease are DOUBLED over the next 5-15 years…DOUBLED!! This is extra frightening to me as heart disease runs in my family as well. My father is currently recovering from his second open heart surgery. 16 years ago my dad had a triple bypass and a few weeks ago he had a double bypass and a valve replacement. THANK GOODNESS my dad is doing well and in the recovery process. I am so grateful to modern medicine and science for helping give me, my mom, my sister and my kids many more years with my dad!!
Do you know that heart disease is the NUMBER ONE killer in women? I found this great infograph on the Penn Heart and Vascular Center’s website
Having knowledge is powerful, know the signs and symptoms of heart attacks and get help immediately if your experiencing these symptoms.

I think something critical is to choose the RIGHT fats. Don’t stay away from all fats, and definitely don’t eat low fat, but do make sure that you are getting healthy fats, like avocado. It’s all such a delicate balance but heart health is so critical for women.
Thanks for posting Sarah…. as women we always seem to put ourselves last and tend to ignore symptoms. We have to take care of ourselves
