We love to host BBQ’s in the summer. It doesn’t get much better than inviting friends over for the kids to play and adults to hang out. Summer brings three patriotic holidays where we honor our country and entertain our friends. This July 4th Weekend we had friends over for a BBQ. We brought out our bounce house, decorated with Red, White and Blue flags, had fun crafts and potato sack races. It was a blast!!!
We started prepping for the BBQ by having the kids put together red, white and blue fruit kabobs.
We used strawberries, blueberries and mini marshmallows for our pop of white. I will admit that MANY strawberries and marshmallows were consumed during the kabob making process!! We ordered the patriotic kabobs sticks from Oriental Trading here
We wanted our party to be fun and especially fun for the kids so we decided to have some patriotic crafts. We got make your own pinwheels, DIY USA necklaces, red, white and blue bracelets and make your own red, white and blue paper plate hat! The kids were so excited, it made them feel like the bbq was more like a fun party! Exactly how I wanted them to feel! We ordered Paper Plate Patriotic Hat Craft, Color Your Own Patriotic Pinwheel, Beaded USA Necklace Kits
To go along with our fruit kabobs we served everything on red, white and blue flag plates and TRIED to have as many patriotic colored foods as possible! For the table we ordered patriotic plates, napkins and more from Oriental Trading!
Once we got the kids sugar rush from dessert kicked in I announce that there would be Potato Sack Races! Half the kids didn’t even know what this was but they were still cheering for them!! It was the cutest thing to see all these little ones getting into potato sacks, tumbling over and giggling along!
I even had a few of the races on video to share!
We really had a blast hosting our patriotic party this summer!! The best part about is that Red, White and Blue never goes out of style so we can use everything over and over!
Disclosure: We were supplied with all the amazing red, white and blue items from Oriental Trading but the opinions in this post are my own!
