It has become my mission to find a better way to store LEGOs. An easy way that Derek can bring them upstairs, downstairs and on road if needed. Since Derek loves LEGOs I want him to be able to freely access them, which means many type of tupperware, drawers and such don’t work well because his little hands have a hard time opening it AND he never ever puts anything away in a drawer/container.
While searching the internet for the 100th or so time for “ways to store legos” and “best lego storage” I found myself on the Swoop Bags site and right away I was drawn in by their story.
“Thirty years ago, my grandmother gave my brother a handmade storage bag for his heaping pile of Lego® pieces. Thirty years later, when my own son got knee-deep into Lego®, my mom dragged out that bag from the storage closet and made a similar one for my son. Friends would come over to our house and say, “WOW! Where did you get that bag? What a FANTASTIC idea to help contain the crazy Lego® mess!” Right then, the idea of Swoop Bags was born.
Now, thirty years later, I give you SWOOP BAGS –a re-imagined, modern day version of the original bag my grandmother had made. As a graphic designer who loves and breathes modern and clean design and a mother of two Lego-loving kids, I wanted to re-design my grandmother’s bag to create a bag that was modern, simple to use and very well made.”

Since I have so many beautiful family heirlooms made for me by my own mother and grandmother, Swoop Bags really tugged at my heart strings. I love back story, plus who doesn’t love a mom creating something useful for kids and that it’s made in the USA!!
When our Swoop Bag arrived, orange of course because it’s Derek’s go to color, I wasn’t the least bit disappointed. It’s made of a tough, strong fabric and the color is so vibrant. The cord is easy for Derek to pull shut and throw on his shoulder to carry his bag with him.
One thing I really love about the Swoop Bag is basically that you just SWOOP IT UP for clean up time!!! If I tell Derek to “swoop up” his LEGOs it’s way easier and quicker for him to throw everything into his Swoop Bag than if he had to organize into boxes! This, I hope, makes him a bit more likely to clean up after himself.
Derek has a nice set-up in his bedroom to build LEGOs but many times he doesn’t want to be alone. The Swoop Bag allows him to bring his LEGOs anywhere in the house, easily! He can sit on the cough with the bag on his lap (see photo below) or pack it up and bring it with him when he is playing in a different room!
We have the SWOOP Mini, it’s the perfect size for Derek to carry around and retails for $24 HERE

I have heard about these! My kids are starting to get the LEGO itch. Thanks for the review!
Glad you went with this – I was thinking it would be the perfect solution to your LEGO problem!
I need one of these ASAP!
I had a bag like that what I was a kid! For the life of me I can’t remember what I kept in it, but Legos are the perfect idea!
GENIUS! We’re still into trains around here, but I think LEGOS are just around the corner.
