There are some days when I just can’t grasp the moment. When everything and everyone I am up against is negative. No matter how many deep breaths I take and no matter how much I think of cute puppies I just can’t get the external negativity to stop! I have been trying to become more calm, more centered. Trying to get not let the outside stuff inside but how do I do that when at times there is no escape.
After some internet browsing, some quiet down time and some puppy kisses; I came up with a list of “12 Ways to Reset a Bad Mood ”
1- Change your surroundings: If you’re inside, step outside. If you’re sitting, stand up and walk in a different room. A lot of times just having a new view can help you escape and change perspective.
2-Take a Walk: Taking a walk will give you time to talk yourself out of your bad mood and back into the you that you want to be
3-Smell the Roses: Literally, sniff them!! If there aren’t roses around go smell some other pretty flowers (or some JOHNSON’S Baby Lotion and dream of babies!!)
4-Think of a Great Day: How can you stay in a bad mood when you are thinking of a great memory!!
5-Close Your Eyes: Visualize something that makes you happy! Whether it is your family, coffee or a beautiful dress you scored on sale at Nordstrom, think of it!!
6-Pet the Dog: While I am cuddling, petting or getting puppy kisses from Finnegan I can’t help but smile
7-Smile: Fake it till you make it!!!!
8-Call a fun friend: No need to call anyone that will commiserate in your bad mood. Call someone silly!!
9-Remember what you have: Whether it’s a family, kids, pet, home or a good job. Remember something that you are “lucky” to have!
10-Take a nap: Try resting for 20 minutes. This will help you reset yourself and catch up on needed sleep.
11-De-Clutter: Anytime I get something cleaned up/out, I feel like I achieved the unachievable! One day I will get the drawers in my nightstand!
12-Deep Breaths: When all else fails, try some yoga like Breaths and see if you can ommmmmm yourself into a better day!
How do you reset yourself from a negative day??
These are GREAT ideas! I find a nap almost always resets my attitude 🙂
Sometimes a drive and/or loud music and shake it off!
loud music helps me too!!!!
Super great tips. I had a terrible, horrible, no good, very bad day. Forced myself to go outside and go for a hike and it was an instant mood lifter!
I hope your day got better!!! Changing up the scenery and breathing in the outside air always helps me
Walks totally work for me!! Love this list! Thanks!
When I can’t get a walk, I take Finnegan out in the back by myself to breathe in the fresh air!
