Well Hello Friday! I missed you so much on Tuesday. I counted down to you on Wednesday and on Thursday I felt like you were here since I have off work today! Hooray for 3 day weekends!! As most of you know I am a Mom on the go. I work full-time at a University and I spend my evenings and weekends picking up from two different schools, making dinners, cleaning up and transporting to soccer, karate, parks, playdates and more. WE ARE ALWAYS RUNNING….WE ARE ALWAYS RUNNING!!!
One good thing is my kids are full on absolutely obsessed with Under Armour clothes so when I pick them up from school they are already dressed for activities. Derek refuses to wear anything but sweatpants or shorts. In an effort to keep the peace, make my kids feel comfortable in their skin and have Derek always ready to go, it’s all Under Armour All The Time! Since my friends at Kids Headquarters send Derek all his favorite Under Armour, he thinks he is sponsored by them. He requests his “Suits of Armour” and even comes home from school telling me how his friends all like his Under Armour. They are 7, it blows my mind how they know this. Anyway, my friend Heather’s post on Dressing Sporty Boys made me feel 100% like I am doing the right thing by letting Derek wear all sporty clothes.
Since we are always on the go, I feel like I live in my car. My car is stocked, it’s got so much stuff in it I might be able to dress my kids for a few days and feed them snacks for a few days! It had me thinking that I should share my tricks with you all for this weeks’ installment of Friday Fresh Picks. My first tip would be, have them dressed in their favorite sporty clothes before you even pick them up!
And now I bring you…
11 Things Every Sports Mom Must Keep in Her Car
1-Hat: My son is obsessed with baseball hats. They are great to shield his skin from the sunshine and for those days when he is badly in need of a haircut (like below!!)
2-Sunglasses: I always have a few pairs of kids’ sunglasses in the car and usually have my own back up pair in there. The worst thing is having to stay out in the middle of the bright sun with no shades!
3-Snack Packs: I try to have snacks! I try to always have bags of Pirate’s Booty, Cheddar Goldfish and some Mini Muffins in my car
4- Sweatshirt: Typically there are multiple sweatshirts, hoodies, sweaters, coats and rain gear in my car. I am always cold so I like to be prepared.
5- Soccer Ball: No matter where we are we can find a spot to play soccer. Both kids love to play so having one or two balls in the car can turn any stop more exciting.
6-Baseball and Gloves: We always keep a few gloves and baseballs in the car. Then we we visit the Grandparents or meet up with your best buddy at the park we are always prepared for the urge to have a catch.
7-First Aid Kit: It’s inevitable that someone will get hurt at sometime. I keep a plastic bin in my trunk with First Aid items. You can make your own first aid trunk box too. Just add the following
- Band-Aids (tip: Get some pink, some blue and some neutral!!)
- Neosporin Ointment and Spray
- Waterproof Band-Aids
- Advanced Healing Blister (think new shoes to work and straight to soccer! you’re welcome!)
Here’s a peak at my first aid supply kit
Put it in a box like this and stick it in the trunk till you need it
8- Foldable Chairs: Obviously these are for me and whichever child isn’t involved in the current sport of the moment. Those bleachers are never comfortable
9-Trampoline Park Socks: Our new obsession is Trampoline Parks. The kids have an absolute blast literally bouncing off the walls. Our favorite one even has a Ninja Warrior course. In order to bounce you need special socks that have grips on the bottom that helps keep you from slipping. I make sure to keep the kids trampoline park socks in my car!
10- Refillable Water Bottles: Keeping the kids well hydrated is important. My kids turn the high drama antics way up if they are thirsty and don’t have water around. I usually have 1-2 Thermos water bottles in the car that I can fill up and bring with us on the fields.
11- Art Case: The Crayola Art Case with Easel was an awesome under $10 investment. It has helped entertain Hayley during many soccer games, karate practices and baseball games. I keep it stocked with free printables of her favorite characters to color as well as plain white paper if she prefers to draw that day.

Great list! A first aid kit is ALWAYS a good idea to have on hand with sporty kids!
Also LOVING that Crayola kit! Have to look into it.
It’s under $10 and you will not be sorry!! It not only holds everything but it fits nicely on their lap or bleachers for the kids to lean on when they color!!
I keep my Thieves Hand Purifier, Thieves Spray and a packet of Lavender Oil, plus tissues, a mini roll of TP and toilet seat covers. . .LOL as the kids get older I’m thinking I can let them go – but when they were toddlers and young kiddos – I felt better having them on hand!
I need to add tissues, purell and wipes!!!!! The seat covers are hilarious!! I used to have them when D was little.
We always keep sweatshirts and SkyZone socks in the car. You never know when the weather will take a turn or when the kids will say “Let’s go to SkyZone!”
