If you are a regular reader here you know all about Finnegan and how much I love him. Finnegan is my first-born son from another mother. He is an 8-year-old Australian Shepherd that I adore and love just as must as I love my children. Growing up I never had a dog so I have always been surprised at how much my life began to revolve around Finnegan. Finnegan is always under my feet. He sleeps with me, he follows me into the bathroom, sits next to me on the couch, sits under my feet at the dinner table. When I get in from work without fail, Finnegan is there shaking his butt and trying to kiss me. When I go out the my car to get something and come back in; Finnegan is there waiting for me at the door and looking for a kiss. When I am happy he jumps around with me and when I am sad he lies beside me.
When Finnegan first met Derek then Hayley he sniffed them every so gently and then would lay next to wherever they were. He took to his role of guard dog immediately and even on walks he won’t let any stranger or dog near “his kids”
My children adore Finnegan. They play fetch with him, pet him, tried to ride him like a horse (we tell them stop) and Finnegan is amazingly gentle and loving with them. Derek was even born on Finnegan’s first birthday! When the kids were at that tough age where they would pull his hair or hit him instead of pet him; Finnegan would just get up, go across the room and lay down away from them. When they were infants and would cry he would go running. As they grow and play, Finnegan is always with them, playing along.
This Halloween Finnegan and Hayley are considering a Batman and Robin duo dress-up.
When we are shopping for Finnegan we are always looking for the best food, toys and health care items available. We want to keep Finnegan at his very best to help do our part to keep him healthy and happy as long as we can.
