Before I head into the holiday season with the rush of parties, get-togethers and cookie baking; I am starting my commitment to getting myself on track for a healthier way of life. I just turned 40 in August and by mistake I didn’t lose the 15 pounds I was supposed to. The magic number of 40 apparently slows your metabolism down and it becomes harder to lose weight. I had no idea how mean a number could be! I am also heading into the season of all my favorite foods and desserts. The season where a bulky sweater can forgive a big dinner the night before and ponchos are all the rage.
This year I am trying to not only hedge my bets on the cookies verses treadmill but I am going to come out on the other side of the holiday season still working out, still focusing on my health and hopefully down a size or two! It’s my vow to myself and my family so bring on the hot apple cider after the treadmill because I am now a member at Life Time Athletic and I am ready to go!
Since my last try at gym life everything has changed. Nobody is sporting the Sony Sports yellow discman or an oversized college tee. Now it’s all Bluetooth enabled earbuds and wild vibrant patterned pants with a tank that doesn’t match yet I just as wild and vibrant. I feel…well I feel 40. So in my attempt to try and feel a bit more “with it” (OMG am I old for saying with it) I am outfitting myself with some updated gear to feel less insecure when I walk by those patterned yoginis at the gym. I came up with a list of essentials for heading back to the gym especially gear towards those (cough cough) over 40. Check out my picks for what needs to be in your gym bag HERE
Let me know….What’s in your bag?
