I was told to “STOP SKIPPING THANKSGIVING” every time I would bring up Christmas by my children. Then the day after Thanksgiving my youngest woke up singing Christmas songs! So here we are, deep into Christmas season, as per my children!! The stockings will be hung tomorrow and our Elf will be making an appearance soon to be sure the kids stay on the straight and narrow! While I love making and reading gift guides for girls filled with pink or boys filled with blue, I have to be honest, some toys that we love, just don’t fit into a gender or an age. There are some toys that no matter the age or gender, everyone just loves them! Like seriously, who doesn’t want to play with a Ferris Wheel with Lights or write with a Chocolate Pen!? So here I bring to you, holiday toys that help spark imaginative play for both boys and girls!
Everyone loves a good carnival ride. The Playmobil Ferris Wheel with Lights brings your children straight to the memories of rides, cotton candy and fun times with the family. Here they can control the ride, riders and it has lights!!!
Why not add the Playmobil Sweet Shop Play Set to your carnival so the kids can be sure they are able to provide treats and snacks for all the carnival goers!
Since we love Playmobil in our house I must admit that the Playmobil Santa’s Home is an absolute FAVORITE here. We have had ours out for over a month on our dining room table (we obviously aren’t that formal) the kids bring their LEGO minifigures over to visit Santa and love setting up the Playmobil Christmas Parade Set

Another fun set is the Li’l Woodzeez Family Treehouse. We have the Li’l Woodzeez Bear Family living in ours. The Treehouse has multiple slides, swings and ladders for the Li’l Woodzeez Bear Family to play. We also have the Li’l Woodzeez Schoolhouse that my kids love to set up next to the Treehouse so the Bear Family can go to school and home without traveling too far!

If your kids are puppy fans like mine then you must check out the Puppy In My Pocket Pretty Pet Palace Playset. We have gotten a bunch of the Puppy in My Pocket blind bags and love to set the puppies up in their little puppy beds, give them bones or send them down the slide. There are tons of cute spots for the Puppies to hide!
My kids play baby, mommy, daddy the time. They love to set up a school and teach the babies, pretend they are a daycare center and feed the babies. The Our Generation Sweet Canopy Bed has become a “nap-time” favorite. Only the most favorite and prized dolls of the moment get to see in the canopy. It’s such a dreamy, beautiful, solid bed with a tulle and floral print comforter.
It’s so much fun to fancy up the babies with Our Generation Plus the Plush Deluxe Outfit. These outfits are so great they fit the Our Generation, American Girl, Disney Princess Dolls and more! They are easy enough for my 5-year-old to dress her dolls by herself, bonus!
We love to make dessert in our house and dipping in chocolate is an easy favorite to do with the kids for any event or party. The Candy Craft Chocolate Pen now allows the kids to decorate cupcakes, cakes, cookies, pretzels and more with the ease of a pen! Perfect gift for the baker on your list.
We are huge, enormous, gigantic lovers of Doc McStuffins!! We have almost every single toy that has come out. She is the perfect fit for our family. We LOVE animals, especially dogs, and who doesn’t want to be a veterinarian?! Doc McStuffins Pet Vet Checkup Center is sure to be one of the hottest toys of the season for little pet lovers.
Let your child’s imagination run wild cracking code and chasing down spies with the Secret Decoder Set. My kids are obsessed with hiding under our dining room table and having our dog Finnegan help them catch the bad guys with their Secret Decoder Set
In keeping up with pretend play the Melissa and Doug Discovery Magic Set is a great gift for little ones. My kids love to work together to put on a show. My youngest is always the assistant and my oldest loves to perform for my husband and me. It’s a great gift that provides fun for the whole family!
This Melissa and Doug Wooden Steep & Serve Tea Set is the absolute sweetest tea set I have seen. I just love love love it!!! My daughter is always serving up tea for me and her babies, this is a perfect gift for her!
Both of my kids love to play diner. They love to take our orders and feed us plates and plates filled with pretend food. No matter the age, playing kitchen seems to be a universal game that all kids enjoy. In our home, Melissa and Doug foods are at the top of our list for play foods. They create such realistic and fun foods that our kids relate to and want to play with. Like the Flip & Serve Pancake Set! Kids can also whip up their own fun with the Let’s Play House! Baking Play Set.

My girl LOVES to take on the “bad guys” she is constantly fighting against injustices and to saw the world. The Nerf Rebelle Secrets & Spies Arrow Revolution Bow Blaster is perfect for her to help get her guy! It’s great for her spy game with her brother too!
Guitar Hero Live: My kids are huge music fans. I am always amazed how they know all the lyrics to so many new popular songs as well as classics that I love. Guitar Hero Live is the absolute perfect gift for my son. He is going to be so excited to rock out in the living room, on stage, to all his favorite songs. Finally, a game the whole family can actually enjoy!!!
My son has long been a fan of Transformers so every holiday and birthday we get him more. It’s so much fun to see toys from my generation that stay popular! The Transformers Robots in Disguise Mini-Con Deployers Autobot Drift and Jetstorm Figures easily transforms so kids can actually do it themselves too, BONUS!
Shark Week Hooded Towels: Ever since Shark Week last year my kids has been asking when the next one is coming. These super cute towels are a fun way to keep their excitement up through the year!
Scholastic Quarterback Superstars : My son is OBSESSED with this book. He reads it every single morning at breakfast and now has been discussing Quarterbacks at every family even we go to!
You can never ever go wrong with a LEGO set. Anytime you are unsure of what to get a child (or adult) I vote LEGOs. The LEGO Disney Princess Rapunzel’s Creativity Tower brings the story of Rapunzel to life in your very own living room plus gives children the pride of knowing they built something themselves!
Lalaloopsy is another favorite in our house and such a fun character. My kids love little play houses for their characters to hang out. The Mini Lalaloopsy Super Silly Party Cake Playset is home to Lalaloopsy mini action figures but in our house you are also likely to find some little green men in there too!!
Discovery Kids TeePee Tent: My kids are constantly looking for hiding places in our house. If they aren’t under the dining room table then they are usually somewhere begging me to build them some sort of fort that we can never get to stay up. Enter the Discover Kids TeePee Tent now the kids have their own little hideaway space and even Finnegan can hang out in there with them!
Sequence for Kids: Sequence is the kind of game that not only can the whole family play but my 5 and 7 year old both feel challenged, excited to play and there are no cries of “I don’t want to play a baby game” I love that we can sit together as a family and play it over and over again and the kids are actually learning!!
Sequence Dogs and Sequence Cats: Perfect for the Pet Love on your list!! In our house it’s all dogs all the time but my youngest has a fondness for anything cute and fluffy. I love that Sequence games are easy enough to play that everyone understands the rules. Makes for a fun family game without the kids fighting over ways to play.
Disney Imagicademy Storymation Studio: Super cute kids animation app and set featuring beloved Disney Characters. Great for a budding filmmaker or future youtuber!
Sequence States and Capitals: Another great learning game for you and the kids. Match up the state with their capital. Great way for kids to learn through play!
Rock, Paper, Scissors: My kids love Rock, Paper, Scissors AND they love card games. This is a great way to get them to sit down together to play a card game that they know the rules to and enjoy!
Match ‘Em: This one is great for my 7 year old. It helps him work on his math, problem solving skills and he loves playing and figuring things out!!
Have a VERY Happy Holiday!!!
Holy moly! This is a mega mega list! So many ideas. My middle daughter is all about the pretend play. Lots of possibilities here!
My boys both loved Playmobil so much!
