Since October my husband Rob and I both have been committed to getting healthier. Today Rob is sharing about how he makes and finds the time to get to the gym even with the hectic work/life schedule.
The stress of business most days can be very overwhelming. Whether it’s closing deals, losing deals, making important staff decisions or trying to figure out your next move to increase growth and profit some days if you don’t just step away for a few minutes it can really just consume you. Lunch-breaks are a time that most people use to relax or just take their mind off of everything. For some a 3 martini lunch did the trick, for others it was a large cheese burger and a coke, but for me making healthy choices is now my main goal and the only option! Below is an outlined work-out that can be done over your lunch break and have you ready to battle business in the 2nd half of the work day.
LifeTime Athletic opened up in Mt Laurel in October of 2015 and it is a 1st Class facility not only for business people but for families as well. It provides a unique environment to train and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Just walking through the front door makes you feel energized and ready to get your workout on.
The Business Person Lunchtime Workout:
Warm up-10 minutes
What a better way to warm up then a little basketball, it gets the blood flowing plus it is fun!
Work-out- 30 minutes
Designed by Alisha Neville, TEAM Alpha & Fitness Trainer, RKC, FMS, PM, AAAI/ISMA at Life Time Athletic be sure to email Alisha to set up a training session ANeville@lifetimefitness.com
Phase 1 – Sled pushes to Rope Climbs
Start your workout with sled pushes, you can add weight if you like but you want to push the sled 30 to 40 feet up and back. After completing the sled pushes you will move right into rope climbs, Climb a total of 250 feet as fast as you can. You will want to do three sets of this circuit with a 30 second to one minute break in-between each set.
Phase 2 – Rowing to push-ups to step-ups
Row 250 meters and move right into doing 10 to 12 push-ups. After completing the push-ups do 8 to 10 step-ups using a 20” box and switching your step-up leg on each rep. A 30 second to one minute break in-between sets is all you need to keep the heart rate up.
Phase 3 – Dumbbell Press to Triceps Press to Standing Pull Ups.
While laying on the ground with a dumbbell in each hand and push up in a bench press motion 12 times. Next you will want to get up and move right to into 10 standing pull ups, called skull crushers. 3 sets of this circuit will give you a good chest, bicep and triceps workout. Don’t forget to rest 30 seconds to 1 minute in-between each set.
Phase 4- The Steam! – 5 mins
The best part of the business person workout is the steam, this will give you time to collect your thoughts and set a plan the 2nd half of the day.
Phase 5- Lunch- 10 minutes
After a full body work it is always important to eat healthy and good which will help your body recharge. At the LifeTime Café everything is healthy and prepared fresh onsite daily.
As you can see the business person lunch workout takes just 55 minutes to complete, add an extra 10 minutes, for a shower and in just over an hour you have a complete full body workout, healthy meal and a mental reboot. Give it a try you just might like the way it makes you feel and see your performance in the office increase!
This is such an awesome post! Great insight how to exercise and eat healthy all on a lunch break! Wish more companies gave hour lunch breaks.
It’s great to have time in the middle of the day to do something good for your body and mind!
This is what I need to do more often!
What a great idea! I’m inspired to move my workouts to mid-day lunch breaks now especially since I think this will help me power through the rest of my busy day!
My husband swears by the lunchtime reset!!
I really wish we had a gym like this near us! I am jealous of the fun you guys are having!
Love it, especially the yummy meal at the end. 🙂 Seriously, fun post!
I need to start going back to the gym around lunch. I think its the best “mental health break”.
