If you follow my Instagram and Facebook pages I am sure you have seen that I have recently started making my own shirts for the kids. My friends Heather at Daze and Knights and Devon at Mama Cheaps have been making shirt, bags, pillows and more with Heat Transfer Vinyl (usually referred to as HTV) for a long time now while I have been ooohhing, ahhing and drooling as they send me cute photo after cute photo of their kids properly themed for ever single holiday or event. Let me tell you, I got my eye on you May the Fourth (be with you) and my kids will be ready!!!
My husband even commented and asked, “Do you just have a random stockpile of blank shirts” oh hahah, he has no idea how much of a pile I have and how long I have been waiting! When ProWorld offered to send me some HTV vinyl to play with I was all in!! This was it, I was taking the dive, conquering my fear and making a shirt!!!
We were getting ready to head back to Woodloch Resort for spring break just when the vinyl arrived. At Woodloch they have wooden horse races and it’s a huge event, the kids LOVE it!! I decided I needed to make shirts for the horse races. I opened the box and fear set in. Many messages to Heather and Devon, “Ok, how do I mirror” “is the glitter thicker” “Which way do I cut it” and finally “OMG I am so in love with Siser EasyWeed HTV!!! Why did I wait so long to try it!!!”
The kids absolutely loved having themed shirts, it totally added extra spunk to the night. PLUS, we won money!!!
After our Woodloch visit I realized I had this HTV thing in the bag. Easter was coming and I was going to make another song lyrics type shirt for the kids. I really wanted something funny that adults would enjoy too. The kids were headed to an Egg Hunt at Life Time Athletic (our home away from home) and I knew this would be the perfect time to dig into my awesome stock of HTV from Pro World and make something else!!
I made these super cute Hip Hop Hooray (HO) shirts for the Egg Hunt at Life Time Athletic but Derek was a bit “too cool” to wear his because he wanted to play basketball. Hayley loved hers, especially because it had glitter on it!!
By the time Easter rolled around, Derek was all over his new Hip Hop Hooray shirt! When I asked him for a photo, he and Hayley wouldn’t stop dancing (so typical!!!)
Special thank you to Pro World for sending me some top of the line vinyl, giving me the push to brave and starting my new favorite hobby!! All opinions are my own.
Such a great idea! Those are so cute!
I adore the Hip Hop shirts!!
