Disclosure: I partnered with Ulta Beauty for this post. All opinions and statements are my own
I have been coloring my hair for over 20 years. When I write that my eye starts twitching a bit because I can still remember the first time I colored my hair and cannot believe I am old enough for it to have been so long ago. My first color was a henna. Oh boy did I mess up my hair. It turned bright orange somehow and took A LOT of time, and professional help, for my hair to stop glowing orange.
These days I am very happy with blonde highlights. No more trendy, wild styles for me. Just some bleach and I am more than happy! For all the color I use in my hair, I am constantly getting compliments from friends, family and co-workers about how nice my hair looks. Yes, I will admit, I have good hair BUT with all the processing, swimming and blowdrying that I do, I fully give props to the hair products that help sustain my hair!
This week after many weeks of hot and humid weather, I am sharing what helps keep my color-treated hair looking good. Today I am partnering with Ulta Beauty, your one stop shop for all things hair and beauty! I can just spend hours and hours wondering the aisles of Ulta! Now scroll ahead and check out today’s Fresh Picks for Color Treated Hair!
Joico Color Co + Wash Whipped Cleansing Conditioner. OH MY OH!!!! WOW!! I was apprehensive at first about using a whipped conditioner. I wasn’t sure how it would moisturize or work through my wet hair in the shower. I like to be sure I work the conditioner all the way in, from roots to ends and then I sort of brush out my knots with my fingers in the shower. I put this whipped conditioner in my hair and it was not what I was used to but it really worked itself through my hair and left it feeling extra moisturized when I was done. I haven’t stopped using it since!!
Matrix Biolage Colorlast Shampoo (also available in conditioner) This has always been my go-to shampoo and conditioner. It always leaves my hair feeling clean, moisturized and detangled. For some reason, if I don’t use the right conditioner my hair gets so many tiny knots. I have been using Biolage since I was in college and it was a huge splurge for me to buy any hair products over $5
Redken Color Extend Magnetics Shampoo (also available in conditioner) I like the Redken Color Extend. Sulfate-Free is important to me since I find that when I don’t use it my color seems to blend quickly, my highlights fade and everything just looks bland.
Pureology Colour Fanatic is an excellent leave in. I had been using It’s a 10 with Keratin, that I still love, but Pureology has a specific Anti-Fade Complex that is huge for me. I want something to protect my hair color and this really seems to be keeping my highlights in tact.
Pacifica Coconut Damage Mask I’ve been looking for a thick, creamy treatment for my hair for a while. Using the Pacifica Coconut Mask 3 times a week has really been helping build up my moisture levels in my hair. My hair feels extra hydrated lately and I can feel that it’s repairing past damage.
dpHUE Cool Blonde Shampoo (also available in Conditioner) – Bye, Bye Brassiness!! If you’re a blondes then dpHUE is a MUST have!! I was sick of my highlights fading, bleeding, blending and most of all turning brassy. I had heard of the purple shampoos and even tried a few but nothing is like dpHUE. It’s way more hydrating than other purple shampoos and I give it so much credit for keep my blonde brass-free!!

This is just what I need. I use the Redken sulfate free too. It even smells better than the red bottle version. But what I really need is something to moisturize. The coconut one sounds good! My goal is to color my hair less this time and am actually thinking about trying boxed hair color (semi permanent) just to have some fun and find a shade that works.
I promise you won’t be sorry!! Try the Joico too, it’s AMAZING!!! I haven’t used a box since college because I am always so scared of roots with a straight line of very blonde with a quick change to darkness
Believe it or not, I don’t have color treated hair! But I love the picks!
