Since the soccer season was coming to an end just as I received some glitter stretch HTV (heat transfer vinyl) I knew that I needed to make Hayley’s soccer team monogrammed headbands. Doesn’t everyone just feel the need to do that when they see stretch htv? Pro World was kind enough to send me some silver Siser Glitterflex HTV to use for this project.
First I ordered plain black headbands from Amazon. It was around $13 for a dozen, not a bad deal! I picked black so it would be basic and match most things but if you want to switch it up there are 19 other colors on Amazon.
Hayley and I sat together with her team list and tried a bunch of different fonts in the Silhouette Design Studio and went with my latest favorite ZP Think Pink!! Since a lot of people have asked me about the process I thought I would share a little bit more. I open image files, or write and design my text, in the Silhouette Studio that looks like this
After I am happy with the size, design and ready to finalize it I mirror the image. When you’re working with HTV you ALWAYS need to mirror the image. I have wasted so much precious, beautiful htv and (AHHH) GLITTER htv this way. Once mirrored you send it to your Silhouette cutting machine to “cut” the image or text in the vinyl. You then weed out (take away) the negative space. I like using the Silhouette Tools
I don’t have a heat press yet, PLEASE SANTA, PLEASE!!! I have been GOOD!!!! Since I don’t have a heat press I use my iron and a teflon sheet to press the vinyl onto the fabric. I try to do quick, short presses (no steam) and keep doing this till I can see the grain of the fabric through the vinyl.
And viola……The Finished Project
On the field…
And do you know what her name is????
