The holiday season, with all it’s excitement and amazement can also be incredibly overwhelming. As a mom, I don’t want to disappoint my kids. I want them to get what they want from Santa, experience all the fun the season has to offer and do it all while shopping, wrapping, decorating, cooking, planning, driving and working!! Some times in the midst of all the excitement I just need a break. I need time with my family alone to pause and enjoy each other. Time to remember what the season is about, to laugh with my children and cherish all that we have.
We have many holiday traditions that I know the kids really look forward to. Every holiday season we take a trip, just the four of us to experience some Christmas fun and get extra excited about what is to come. This year we took a weekend trip to Philadelphia. We told them no fighting, no playing on our phones, no sweatpants and to put on some festive holiday clothes. Derek chose this adorable Bolt Sweater from Gymboree that really shows off his blue eyes and his Richie Rich hairdo. I love the clothes at Gymboree because they are not only cute but they are soft and wear well!
Hayley was all about the penguin sweater and her new found favorite, fleece lined Warm and Fuzzy leggings!
The kids looked so cute I had all three of them sit nicely for our holiday card shot!
When we got to the city we went to see Annie at The Walnut Street Theatre, the kids first time seeing a big show in the theatre. They even were lucky enough to meet Jenna, the sweet 10 year old that plays Annie in the show!!
We spent a lot of time in our room, with milk and cookies, people watching all night and morning!!
Pajamas are the only way these two let me match them up. I just love these hot cocoa pjs from Gymboree. So cute, fun and great for boys and girls!
Traditions are the glue that keeps families together. I want Derek and Hayley to always have exciting things to look forward to and wonderful memories to look back on! This little getaway to Philadelphia was such a good way to jump start our holiday season (and get a great holiday card photo!!!)
