In the midst of the busy schedules of a family of four, we carved out some much needed time over a three day weekend in October to drive to the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort in Cambridge, Maryland for a family getaway. Nestled along the banks of the Choptank River boasting a gorgeous golf course, two beautiful outdoor pools, one indoor glass enclosed pool that features a movie screen for dive in movies, basketball hoops and a volleyball net and oh so much more. The Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort left us wishing for more time and leaving with a desire to return as soon as schedules allow.
It was an unseasonably hot three day weekend in October when we arrived at the gorgeous Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort. Never would I have expected to be swimming in an outdoor pool that weekend but low and behold we spent three glorious days, grasping at what felt like a mini extension of summertime. September is always such a long month with the kids adjusting to back to school schedules, fall sports taking over the calendar in ways we never realized when we signed up for things in July and just the knowledge that summer is over and the cold is coming. When we were given this gift to experience one last hurrah as a family in a beautiful resort it was just what we all needed! Hours upon hours of pool time in the sun!
The resort is fabulous, the view alone is worth the trip but then you have beautiful rooms that are family friendly and boast the most spectacular views of the water.
With family-friendliness being the key element to us having either a good time or a bad time, the Hyatt Regency Chesapeake Bay Resort nails it. Their new rooms with bunk beds and mini area for the kids to have their own space (as well as us parents)is perfect for when the early birds get to bed and you still want to watch a movie or hang out on the balcony.
There are so many peaceful and relaxing spots to just sit down and take in the moments.
My 9 year old decided his before dinner downtime was best spent playing some Playstation 4 on a big comfy leather couch. The Hyatt Regency truly thinks of everyone and everything.
We dined at an on-site Blue Point Provision restaurant where the kids feasted on seafood like I have never seen. The restaurant sits on the water, with a huge wrap around deck where you can dine outdoors and listen to live music. We took a stretch golf cart to the restaurant which the kids just LOVED and afterwards we hung out on the deck as the kids played.
The hotel gift shop sells make your own S’mores kits so we picked two up and headed down to the gorgeous outside fireplace. We sat chatting in the wooden rockers while the kids toasted marshmallows and enjoyed the fruits of their labor!
The indoor pool has a dive-in movie every night! The kids did everything in their power to stay awake and watch as much of it as possible while we adults enjoyed some late night snacks and beverages in the lounge chairs.
All in all it was a fantastic trip. We all are hoping to get back in the summer to enjoy some water sports, golf and maybe I could sneak away for a little spa break, a mom can dream!!!
What an absolutely gorgeous hotel and location! Putting it on my list of family friendly spots – this would be a great place for us to stay.
The kids bunk bed area is genius! We did not see that when we visited a few years ago for a wedding. The pool there was fun!
