Technically the calendar says it’s still summer but my mind is set to fall. I’ve been drinking Pumpkin Spice coffee like it’s my job and even busted out my favorite fall boots! All while demonstrating some hard to control restraint to not wear a scarf and medium weight coat. Usually this time of year I am grasping tightly onto every little bit of summer that I can but this year that is all out the window and I am ready to move far away from one of the hardest summers of our lives. Losing Finnegan has been on my mind daily, I wake up at night still mourning for him and everything about this past summer is just such a huge reminder of the way too quick and abrupt passing of the dog that stole a huge chunk of our hearts from the moment we saw him. So yes, bring on the fall because summer 2018 was seriously a depressing blur.
With a new season comes new projects for fall and our new home is just a screaming blank canvas for ALL THE CRAFTS!!!
DIY Fall Projects to Spruce Up Your Space
I have been mildly obsessed with making fabric pumpkins. They are such a such, easy and quick way to add a pop of fall to a space. My obsession with black and white buffalo plaid has now rolled over to pumpkins too. I have made about 4 of these so far for little gifts. Check out the Martha Stewart pattern to make your own! Warning, it’s addicting
My friend Lindsey gave me some fabric she was done with. I am going to make some pillows with it but in the meantime I couldn’t resist making her a mini pumpkin too!
Another favorite craft is a reverse canvas print. It’s simple, quick and gives you something to hang on the wall for any season you want. What you need to do is take apart stretched canvas, stain the inside frame, designed a sign and use some heat transfer vinyl on the canvas then staple it back into the frame!!! Love this fun craft!!!
Personalize a Pumpkin!! Here I used my silhouette cameo to cut out a design and I transferred it onto a pumpkin from Target.
This one is from last year. I made a window cling for Halloween out of Cricuit Window Cling Vinyl. It’s fun and you can do this for any holiday too.
For my birthday, two of my friends made me this amazing sign! It’s reversible for different seasons. I have it in the living room now but it can totally be a porch sign too. I love using the Silhouette to cut stencils, my friend even sell their signs!! Check them out The Barclay Birds on Instagram
Succulents are ALWAYS in season in my house (except about 4 months after I buy them when they die) and I am obsessed with spray painting mason jars. Here I used Krylon red spray paint and reminder….wear gloves (I always forget)
What have you crafted up for fall?? Please share and please leave some links below to things we can all try too!!!
xoxo, Sarah
